The Northwest Amateur Radio Society is an officially recongized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We strive to meet our obligations to the community principally on the club dues. This is becoming increasingly difficult because, let's face it, the price of everything is going up. Just because we are a charitable organization does not exempt us trom these increased.
Among the many benefits we offer to the community at large are emergency communications, support for community events such as marathons and air shows, and public service demonstartions at various public gatherings. We have assembled and maintain one of the most capable repeater systems in the Houston metropolitan area.
RF coverage extends from just north of Galveston to just south of Conroe from most mobile radio installations. With a home station and a very modest antenna, the coverage extends frurther than this. We even have a regular check-in from Canada via the internet. This is an open system, available to all licensed Amateur Radio Operators without cost or restriction.
We also supoort a communications trailer that is under development. This trailer is being equipped with state-of-the-art communications gear to porvide easily transportable communications capability for on-site emergecy response and for local events and demonstrations.
If you can help us finance these goals, we will be most appreciative. All donations will be acknowledged with a receipt for tax purposes. To donate, send a check to our club mailbox:
